Creamy Buffalo Milk Berry Porridge

There is nothing that warms the soul more than a bowl of delicious porridge on a cool winter morning. Porridge, when you make it with buffalo milk, becomes extra creamy with almost no effort.

This recipe is quick enough for busy mornings but special enough to feel like a treat. It’s also a great way to use seasonal berries or whatever you have in the fridge or freezer.

Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 2 cups buffalo milk

  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)

  • Extra buffalo milk for serving

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • Pinch of cinnamon

  • Pinch of nutmeg

Method

  1. Add the oats, buffalo milk, vanilla, salt, spices, chia seeds and honey/maple syrup (if using) to a small saucepan.

  2. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  3. Cook for 5–7 minutes, or until the oats are soft and the porridge is thick and creamy.

  4. Stir through half the berries, letting them warm and soften.

  5. Spoon into bowls and top with the remaining berries.

  6. Finish with a splash of buffalo milk for extra creaminess.

Serving Ideas

  • Add a spoonful of natural buffalo yoghurt on top.

  • Sprinkle with toasted almonds, granola, or chia seeds.

  • Swirl through a little berry compote or jam.

  • Add sliced banana or stewed apples for extra sweetness.

Using buffalo milk in porridge is one of the easiest ways to enjoy its naturally creamy texture and elevate the humble bowl of oats into something warm, comforting, and full of flavour!
